Harry Lee "Joe" Stewart, 67, of Linton, Indiana, passed away Tuesday, December 13, 2011, at his residence in Linton. He was born on March 16, 1944, in Linton, Indiana, to Harry C. and Virginia Beatrice (Hubble) Stewart. Joe married Sylvia R. Sisk on July 20, 1966.
Joe owned and operated Stewart Concrete and also worked construction out of the Laborers Union Hall #204 in Terre Haute. Joe retired from construction in 1999. Joe served in the U. S. Army during the Vietnam War and received the National Defense Service Medal as well as the Rifle Sharpshooter award. His hobbies include hunting and fishing. He loved driving through the country.
Survivors include his wife: Sylvia Stewart; one son: Terry L. Stewart; one daughter, Angie Sherrill both of Linton; one sister, Patty Browning of Kokomo, Indiana; three grandchildren, Kaleb and Kelsea Sherrill and Wesley Stewart.
Joe was preceded in death by his parents; four sisters, Gloria Beechler, Barbara Anderson, Phyllis Wiczulis and Betty Ferry; three brothers, Eddie Stewart, David Utt and Charles W. Stewart, Sr.
The funeral service will be Thursday, December 15, 2011, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton at 2:00 PM with Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Burial will follow the service at the Mount Moriah Cemetery in Dugger, Indiana with military graveside rites.
Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 11:00 AM until time of service on Thursday.
