Hazel L. Mowery, age 97, of Clarksville, MI, formerly of Sandborn, IN, went to be with her Lord on Saturday, September 24th, 2005. She was born on November 6, 1907 in Scotland, IN to Leota (Inman) and John Summerville and graduated from Scotland High School. She married Thomas Mowery on June 27, 1927. Thomas preceded her in death on June 22, 1985. A son, John S. Mowery also preceded her in death on October 16, 1980.
Hazel was a wonderful caring wife, precious mother, grandmother and great-grandmother. She always put others ahead of herself and was a Christian witness to all who knew her. Her greatest joy came with the gatherings of family and friends. She had moved to Grand Rapids, MI in 1989 and to Laurels of Kent in 2000. Hazel worked at G C Murphy Co in Linton until her retirement and was a member of the Sandborn Baptist Church and the O.E.S. (Order of Eastern Star) also of Sandborn.
She is survived by her daughter, Donna (Cecil) Whitaker of Clarksville, MI; five grandchildren who adored her, Terri (Phil) Rychner, Deanna Nelms, Todd (Linda) Whitaker, Tracey (Mike) Denton, Mike (Linda) Mowery; eight great-grandchildren Brandon and Chelsea Rychner, Travis and Rachel Whitaker, Holly, Chelsea and Whitney Denton, and Desirae Nelms; one sister-in-law Ruth Summerville; many nieces and nephews and treasured friends.
