Obituary

Dr. Homer Lee Moore, 87, of Linton, went to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, on Thurs., Sept. 23rd, 2010, at 6:00 AM. He was at home, surrounded by family, praising God. Born in Bicknell, IN, on Nov. 6, 1922, he was the son of Homer H. and Emma (McClung) Moore. On February 8, 1942, his high school sweetheart, Betty Jo Davis became his wife.

Dr. Moore was a US Army veteran, who served in the Army Air Corp during WW II. As a civilian, he served the community as Dr. HL Moore OD, (Optometrist) for 57 years and retired from his practice in 2006. He was a member and long-time Elder of the Linton First Christian Church, Prime-timers, Tuesday Morning Men's Fellowship Breakfast, Linton Civitan Club, 50 yr. member of the Indiana Optometric Assoc., Indiana University Alumni Assoc., VOSH, 50 yr. member of Linton Masonic Lodge #560 F & AM, Linton Chapter #140 Order of Eastern Star, Linton BPO Elks #866, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, Zorah Shrine, and Linton Housing Authority Board. Dr. Moore was a kind, Godly man, who will be truly missed by family, friends, and the entire community.

Survivors include three sons: Lowell Nick (Babs) Moore and Bruce (Debbie) Moore both of Linton, and Michael (Ann) Moore of Indianapolis; four daughters: Nancy (Don) Cooksey of Dugger, Connie (Roger) Sears of Linton, Suzanne (Mike) Dickerson of Sparta, TN, and Sara (Bryan) Correll of Linton; Grandchildren: Nicolee (John) Schulze, Nathan (Missie) Moore, Darin (Patty) Cooksey, Brad Cooksey, Lynnette Carmichael, Celeste Biggs, Natalee (Darren) Woodward, Beverley (Mike) Fisher, Tammy Plann, Christopher Moore, Justin Moore, Kristi Moore, Drew Masterson, James Masterson, Sara-Marie (Richard) Arthur, Landon (Terri) Dickerson, Rebecca (Brandon) Young, Michael (Alyx) Dickerson, Laura Beth (Kevin) Cross; 33 great grandchildren and 1 great, great, grandson.

Dr. Moore was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Betty of 53 years and three brothers, William, Gerald, and Alvin.

Funeral services will be begin at 11:00 AM on Saturday, September 25, 2010, at the Linton First Christian Church, with Dr. Moore's son, Lowell Nick Moore, officiating. Interment will follow in the Fairview Cemetery in Linton, IN.

Visitation will be conducted at the Linton First Christian Church from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday, September 24, 2010, and will resume on Saturday, September 25, from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.

Military Graveside Services will be provided by American Legion Post #22 and VFW Post #7118

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Civitan International Research Center. Envelopes will be available at the church.
