Obituary

James "Doyle" Shake, 86, of Linton, IN, and formerly of Sandborn, IN, passed away Thursday, November 22, 2007, at the Lyons Health and Living Center in Lyons, Indiana. He was born April 26, 1921, to Sherman and Viola Fern (Watt) Shake. On May 3, 1047, he married Ruth Marie Heidenreich.

Doyle was a farmer, livestock hauler, and a U.S. mail carrier. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and received a Purple Heart. Doyle was a member of the Sandborn United Methodist Church, Lyons American Legion Post #479 and a 50 year member of Masonic Lodge F&AM #429.

Survivors include his three daughters, Beth (Fred) Phillips of Cookeville, TN, Kay (T.J.) Ball of Linton and Belinda Atlogic of Oquawka, IL; two sons, Brent Shake of Cookeville, TN and Brad (Robin) Shake of Naples, FL; nine grandchildren: Lisa, Lee, Kimberly, Justin, Adina, Matthew, Justin, Jim and Lisa; two sisters, Helene Davidson of Lyons and Ruth Jane O'Dell of Mooresville; one brother, Harry Shake of Sandborn. Also surviving are sixteen great-grandchildren.

Doyle was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth Marie Shake, on August 8, 2004; one daughter, Karen Shake; two son-in-laws, John Atlogic and Rex Hollingsworth; one brother, Bert Shake.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4:00 to 8:00 PM, Sunday, November 25, 2007. Masonic Memorial Service will be held on Sunday at 7:00 PM at the funeral home. Friends may also call from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Monday, November 26, 2007, at Sandborn United Methodist Church in Sandborn. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, November 26, 2007, at Sandborn United Methodist Church with Rev. Tom Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at Sandborn Cemetery in Sandborn with full Military Graveside Rites. For those who wish to make a memorial contribution, the family has named the Sandborn United Methodist Church.
