James Phillip 'Jim' Anderson, 83, of Linton, formerly of Caruthersville, MO, passed away on December 4, 2013 at the Sullivan County Community Hospital. He was born on August 2, 1930 in Linton, IN to Russell and Juanita (Flake) Anderson. James spent his childhood in Linton living with his grandmother, Mahala Jane Huffman Anderson who preceded him in death.

Jim was a US Army veteran serving with the 32 Infantry Regiment in the Korean War. His many awards include the Bronze Service Star, Korean Service Medal with Two Bronze Stars, Combat Infantry Badge, Korean Presidential Unit Citation and a Purple Heart. Jim was a life member of the Korean War Veterans Association and a life member of the VFW, post 4680 of Caruthersville, MO and the Linton VFW and American Legion Post #22.

Survivors include: Special cousins, Irma Cox and Mike Cunningham of Linton, Jeffrey Scott Cunningham of Danville, IN; Surviving cousins also include, Pancy Teed of Three Rivers, MI, Sharon Wilkerson of CA, Sara Davenport of Bloomington, IN, Margie Coombs of FL, Yevette Rollins of Little Cincinnati, IN and Rae Dawn Lindsey of Solsberry, IN; Sister-in-law, Betty Anderson of Detroit, MI and one niece and three nephews also survive.

James was preceded in death by: his wife, Louise; a brother, Charles E. Anderson; his parents, Russell Anderson and Juanita Heenan and step-father, William Clyde Heenan.

Graveside services will be held at 1:00 pm on Wednesday, December 18 in Fairview Cemetery, Linton, IN with full military honors.

The family has entrusted all arrangements to the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton.
