James Leroy Blankenship, 80 , of Jasonville, Indiana, passed away with loved ones at his side, on Sunday, September 23, 2018 at Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton. He was born on December 29, 1937 at Somerset, Kentucky to Marshall and Martha (Petree) Blankenship. Leroy married Juanita M. (Tarr) Payne in 1957.

Leroy worked as a heavy equipment operator until he retired in 1990. He enjoyed hunting and fishing his entire life.

Survivors include: three sons, Jerry (Jenny) Blankenship of Georgia, Thomas (Karen) Blankenship of Punta Gorda, FL and Jack Dillard of Jasonville; daughter, Dawn Clark of Indianapolis; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; one brother, Tommy Blankenship; two sisters, Ruby Gadberry and Marsha Todd, all of Somerset, KY.

Leroy was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Juanita Payne and one son, Gary Blankenship.

Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 27, 2018 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Pastor Dick Smith officiating.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
