Obituary

James A. Bridges, 86, of Linton, passed away at 8:30 PM on Friday, Sept. 23, 2005 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton.
Born Dec. 17, 1917 in Tippecanoe County, he was the son of James and Nellie (Williams) Bridges. He married Martha J. Galvin on August 27, 1944.
He was a World War II veteran having served in the U.S. Army. Jim was retired from farming and Clinton Prairie High School where he worked as a custodian. He was a member of the Nine Mile Methodist Church and the American Legion Post #22.
Survivors include: his wife Martha J. Bridges of Linton; three daughters, Linda D. Atkinson of Deatsville, AL, Katherine L. Brown of Linton, and Mary E. Beaver of Mulberry, IN; twelve grandchildren, Shannon, Jamie & Robert Sallee, Rhonda Cook, Shawn, Jeremy, & Nathan Brown, Thomas & Andrew Atkinson, Rachel Irwin, Christopher & Angela Beaver; sixteen great grandchildren, Dustin, Chelsie, Blazia, Brinslee and Christopher Sallee, Morgan, Kara and Jacob Atkinson, Elizabeth & Michel Irwin, Adam & Sarah Beaver, and Dawson, Carson, Neely and Justin Brown; two sisters Maxine Taylor of Lafayette, IN and Barbara Wise of Crawfordsville, IN.
He was preceded in death by his parents, one brother, two sisters, and a daughter Jane M Sallee.
Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
Rev. John Ferguson and Rev. Harold Nolting will officiate with burial to follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
