James E. McDaniels, 84, of Linton, Indiana, entered into rest surrounded by his family on Saturday, October 3, 2015 at Glenburn Home in Linton, Indiana. He was born on July 19, 1931 in Riley, IN; the son of Virsa M. (Sanders) and Ralph McDaniels. He married Loretta M. Schmitt on July 9, 1955.
Jim was a veteran of the US Navy serving during the Korean War. He retired in 1988 after 20 years of service as a welder for Peabody Coal Company. He was a member of the Linton First Christian Church, Loyal Order of Moose #1434, American Legion Post 22, the Dugger Order of Eastern Star #482, VFW Post #7118, and Past Master of the Dugger Masonic Lodge #721 F&AM.
Survivors include: his wife Loretta McDaniels, one son: Steven E. McDaniels of Henderson, NC. and one daughter: Linda A. Williams of Indianapolis; two Grandchildren: Justin Leigh and Ashley Williams, and one great-granddaughter: Elora Dawn Wade. James is also survived by his brother: Ralph McDaniels Godfrey of Linton, one sister: Ann Meyers of Indianapolis, and several nieces and nephews.
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents, two brothers: John McDaniels, and Jack McDaniels, as well as two sisters: Audrey Clark and Eileen Slavens.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7, 2015 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Pastor Warren Shake officiating. Jim will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton with military graveside services by the Linton American Legion Post #22.
Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, October 6 and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 7. There will be a Masonic Memorial Service at 7:00 PM on October 6 at the funeral home.
