Jane E. Elliott, 71, of Lyons, Indiana, went to Heaven peacefully surrounded by her loving family on Saturday, October 24, 2015. She was born on May 1, 1944 in Edwardsport, Indiana to Hartsel and M. Maxine (Everett) Porter. She married Darrell J. Collins on February 23, 1965 and after his passing, she married Jimmie D. Elliott on February 14, 1988.
Jane was a member of the Linton First Christian Church and the Greene County Gospel Music Association and was a former member of the Esther Rebekah Lodge #461. She sang with the Gospel Trio and was a former Sunday School Superintendent, teacher and youth leader. Jane enjoyed pulling horses with her husband, Jimmie, all over the state of Indiana at county fairs.
Survivors include: daughter, Dee (Randy) Alford of Bruceville; step-daughter, Lana (John Zweck) Elliott of Longmont, CO; 7 grandchildren; 8 great-grandchildren; 2 great-great-grandchildren; an adopted grandchild in Christ and brother, Tom (Eloise) Porter of Edwardsport.
Jane was preceded in death by: her parents, Hartsel Porter and M. Maxine Yagle; her first husband, Darrell Collins (April 22, 1987); her second husband, Jimmie Elliott (January 6, 2015); step-daughters, Linda Mayfield and Lisa Hall; step-son, Michael Elliott and step-granddaughter, Jennifer Elliott.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 28, 2015 at the Linton First Christian Church with Warren Shake officiating. Jane will be laid to rest in the Edwardsport Cemetery.
Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Tuesday, October 27 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM on Wednesday at the church.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made in memory of Jane to the Linton First Christian Church Building Fund or to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home and the church.
