Jean (Hislip) Knotts, 90, of Carlisle, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, April 20, 2014, at the Oak Village Nursing Home in Oaktown, IN. She was born on August 10, 1923, in Knox County, IN, to William and Eva Mary (Joslin) Hislip. Jean married Charlie Knotts on December 26, 1942.

Jean was a member of the Shaker Prairie Christian Church in Carlisle and the American Legion Ladies Axillary. She was a homemaker, devoted mother and grandmother. One of her favorite hobbies included quilting at the Shaker Prairie Church with her church friends.

Survivors include: one daughter, Karen (P.J.) Pierson of Sullivan; one son, Dale W. (Cathie) Knotts of Linton; three grandchildren: Michelle (Brent) Landis, Jessica (Robert) Stallings and Lincoln (Suzanne) Pierce; and five great grandchildren: Preslee Vaught, Sydnee Weddle, Payton Pierce, Rylee Vaught and Parker Pierce.

Jean was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Charlie (1998).

For those who wish, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Shaker Prairie Christian Church or the Oak Village Nursing Home. Envelopes will be made available at the graveside or the funeral home.

A Graveside Service will be held on Tuesday, April 22, 2014, at 11:00 AM in the IOOF Cemetery in Carlisle, IN, with Pastor Kirk Langston officiating.

The family has entrusted the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with all arrangements.
