Jerry Lee Norrington, 83, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his loving family, on Sunday, March 27, 2016 at the Linton Nursing and Rehab Center in Linton. He was born in Winslow, Indiana on August 28, 1932 to Otis and Mary Frances (Grider) Norrington. He married his sweetheart, Marilyn R. Miley on September 8, 1956.
Jerry was a US Navy veteran and was proud to have served his country. He was a member of the Dugger Masonic Lodge #721 F & AM, Zorah Shrine, Greene Co. Shrine, Scottish Rite Valley of Terre Haute, American Legion Post #22 and UMWA Dist. 12. Jerry retired as a coal miner from Amax Coal Co. in 1994 with 38 years of service.
Family members surviving are: his wife, Marilyn Norrington of Linton; one son, Gregory Norrington of Linton; one daughter, Jennifer Norrington of Indianapolis; five grandchildren, Kelsi (Chase) Sandefur, Kati (Wes) Newsom, Kinsi (Beau) Green, all of Paducah, KY, Lucas and Travis Norrington, both of Indianapolis, IN and two great-grandchildren, Sophie and Layla Sandefur, both of Paducah, KY.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents.
A Masonic Memorial service is scheduled for 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 2, 2016 followed by a military service provided by the American Legion Post #22 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton.
Family and friends may call from 2:00 PM until 5:00 PM on Saturday, April 2 at the funeral home.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Shriner's Hospital, St. Jude's Hospital or Riley Children's Hospital. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
