Jerry C. Sparks, 74, of Sullivan, Indiana, passed away Sunday, October 31, 2010, at Sullivan County Community Hospital in Sullivan, Indiana. He was born in Merom, IN, on June 20, 1936, to Carmen Guy and Frances Lucile (Delaney) Sparks. Jerry married Dorothy H. (Shepler) on December 19, 1954 and they had three children.

Jerry was employed at Allison Transmission in Speedway, IN for 30 years, retiring in 1988. He was a member of the Merom United Methodist Church, and UAW Local #933. Jerry was an avid sports fan following all area sporting events.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy; two sons, Jeffrey (Sharon) Sparks of Linton, IN; Jerry Joseph (Connie) Sparks of Danville, IN; one daughter, Jenifer (Marvin, Sr.) Wickware of Terre Haute, IN; four grandchildren, Ryan Oppy, Sam Sparks, Marvin, Jr. (Beth) and Carmen Wickware. Also surviving are one brother, Jon (Rose) Sparks of Dugger, IN; three sisters, Caren Jane (Kenny) Sevier of Sullivan, IN; Fran (Don) Kinnan of Indianapolis, IN and Joy (Mike) Dial of Decatur, IL.

Jerry was preceded in death by his parents and one infant sister.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Sullivan High School Athletics. Envelopes are available at the funeral home or contributions may be mailed to Anderson-Poindexter Dugger Chapel, PO Box 567, Dugger, IN 47848.

The family is following Jerry's wishes with cremation. A Memorial and Celebration of Life Service will be held on November 20, 2010 at the New Hope Community Church located at the corner of Philip and 3rd St. in Merom, IN The service will begin at 2:00 PM.

Anderson-Poindexter Dugger Chapel has been entrusted with the funeral arrangements.
