Joanna (Neal) Smoot, 92, of Jacksonville, NC, formerly of Switz City, passed away on Saturday, June 7, 2014 at the Premier Nursing and Rehab Center in Jacksonville, NC. She was born in Switz City, IN on October 14, 1921 to the late Murl Neal and Audie (Wright) Neal. Joanna was married to the late John Smoot.

Survivors include: one daughter, Linda Sayko of Jacksonville, NC; one sister, Betty Rhodes of Peoria, IL; two grandsons, Neal (Samantha) Cole of Wake Forest, NC and Brian Cole of Youngsville, NC and four great-grandchildren.

A graveside service for Joanna will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 11, 2014 at the Switz City Cemetery.

Memorials can be left for First Christian Church's Building Fund, 900 Gum Branch Road in Jacksonville.

The Smoot Family has entrusted these arrangements with the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton.
