Obituary

John H. Brown, 87, formerly of Marco, Indiana, passed away on Friday, May 9, 2014 at Parkview Village in Odon. He was born on July 6, 1926 in Greene County, Indiana to George W. and Mary Evelyn (Harris) Brown. John married Lois J. Hostetter on June 17, 1947.

John was a US Army WWII veteran. He worked construction as an Iron Worker before retiring in 1982. John was a member of the Marco United Methodist Church and Iron Workers Union Local #22. The enjoyments of life for John was being caretaker of the Marco Cemetery, gardening and raising livestock. He was instrumental in starting Veteran's Memorial Services at Marco Cemetery.

Survivors include: his wife, Lois J. Brown; three sons, Dennis (Reenie) Brown of Boonville, Dan (Eileen) Brown of Switz City and Jerry (Susan) Brown of Lyons; one daughter, Debra Wiggins of Bloomington; ten grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; two half-sisters, Rae Irene Wolfe of West Virginia and Lois Fish of Lyons.

John was preceded in death by: his parents; two brothers, George and James Brown; one sister, Mary Bovenschen; twin siblings, half-sister Betty Jo Brown and half-brother Marion Brown and stepmother, Irene (Compton) Brown.

For those who wish, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Marco United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, May 13 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. Rose Sparks officiating. Interment will follow at the Marco Cemetery with full military honors.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home on Monday, May 12 from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM and on Tuesday from 11:00 AM until the hour of service.

The family has entrusted the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with all arrangements.
