John Lease, 81, of Elnora, IN, passed away Friday, January 3, 2014 at the IU Hospice House in Bloomington. He was born on October 9, 1932 to Thomas J. & Mary L. Johnson Lease. John was married to Janet J. Smith on May 18, 1952.

John was a member of the Plainville United Methodist Church and was a 50 year member of the Elnora Masonic Lodge #616 F & AM. He worked as a union plumber with Local 440 in Indianapolis, retiring in 1994.

Survivors include: two sons, Jim (Joanna) Lease of Carmel and Joe Lease of Burns City; two daughters: Judi (Bruce) Dillon and JJ (Brian) Arney, both of Elnora; five grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; a sister, Averil Peters of Tennessee and companion, Doris Ainscough.

John was preceded in death by: his wife, Janet J. Lease; his parents; one son, Jerel Lease; two brothers and two sisters.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the charity of the giver's choice.

A gathering and visitation for John will be held at the Plainville United Methodist Church on Saturday, January 18, 2014 from 2:00 pm until 6:00 pm. A Masonic Memorial Service will be conducted at 2:00 pm.

The family has entrusted all arrangements to the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton.
