Obituary

John R. Padgett, 75, of Linton, IN passed away on Thursday, November 15, 2012 at Greene County General Hospital in Linton, IN. He was born in Greene County, IN, on March 14, 1937 to Roscoe and Marjorie (Hardesty) Padgett. John married Delores K. Mitchell on January 1, 1977.

John served in the US Air Force and was employed as a Union Electrician with Associated Electric at Thomas Hill Mine where he retired in 1993. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge F & AM and Order of Eastern Star both of Newberry and the American Legion Post #22. His hobbies included woodworking, fly tying, fishing, bowling and gardening.

Survivors include his wife, Delores K. Padgett; son: Ray (Channon) Lockhart of Linton; daughters: Melba (Mike) Henry of Newberry, Jonna (Bobby) Langston of Henderson, KY, Penny Padgett of New Harmony and Sara (Lance) Artman of Clay, KY; step-daughter: Linda (Jay) Eslinger of Dugger. He had 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

John was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters, Marilyn Terhune and Nancy Miller.

Funeral services will be conducted on Monday, November 19, 2012, at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 1:00 PM with Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Followed by Full Military Honors given by the American Legion Post #22 at the funeral home.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton, IN from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Sunday, November 18, 2012, and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Monday, November 19. A Masonic Memorial Service will be held at 7:00 PM on Sunday
evening at the funeral home.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Society. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
