John F. Shepherd, 65, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Monday, April 11, 2016 at his residence. He was born in Terre Haute, Indiana on October 9, 1950 to John Thomas and Essie Leovia (Miller) Shepherd.

John had studied Electronics at Ivy Tech and had worked at the Owen Detective Agency for 11 years. He will be missed by all who knew and loved him.

Survivors include: one daughter, Michelle L. 'Shelly' Secrest of Linton; two granddaughters, Larissa Secrest and Marki Thomas, both of Linton; first wife, Doris Shepherd Criss of Linton; step-sons, "Luke', Jack and Shane; step-children from second marriage, Chester, Rose, George, Gladys, Lois, Dorothy, Billy, Danny, Barbara and Wanda; two sisters, Vi Hughbanks of Linton and Dudie (Bill) Braunsdorf of Maryville, TN; several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. John's beloved dog, 'Rowdy' and 'Ike' his bird also survives.

John was preceded in death by: his parents; his second wife, Wanda Shepherd; two sisters, Gladys Myers and Sharon Hughbanks; two brothers, Jim Shepherd and Bobby Shepherd.

Funeral services are scheduled for 12:00 PM on Saturday, April 16, 2016 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Pastor Larry Waters officiating. John will be laid to rest in the Sassafras Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call at the funeral home from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 12:00 PM on Saturday.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the American Cancer Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
