John Robert Shorter, 65, of Swansea, SC, formerly of Sandborn passed away Tuesday, February 19, 2013, at West Columbia, SC. He was born November 26, 1947, to Harry and Sarah Ruth (Miller) Shorter in Sandborn, IN.

John was a supervisor with the Keller Aluminum Company in Linton before being transferred to Corbin, KY. He was a member of the Sandborn United Methodist Church.

Survivors include his son, Jonathan Shorter of New Orleans, LA; sisters, Barbara (Vernon) Sanders of Sandborn, Donna Lueking of Westphalia and Carolyn Middlebrooks of Surry, VA; also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents, daughter Jennifer; brothers, Harold and Murl Shorter; sisters Mary Yenne and Nina Hill.

The funeral service will be held at 1:00 PM Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel on Saturday, February 23, 2013 with Rev. Bill Pieper officiating. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Saturday, February 23, 2013. Interment will follow at Sandborn Cemetery in Sandborn, IN.

In lieu of flowers contributions may be made at the funeral home to be used as family wishes.
