Obituary

Justin Lloyd Thomas, 71, of Linton passed away at the St. Vincent Heart Center in Indianapolis on February 13, 2014. He succumbed to congestive heart failure.

Justin was born on October 16, 1942 in the Freeman-Greene Hospital in Linton. He was the son of Albert D and Nancy Jane Thomas, who preceded him in death. The youngest of ten siblings, Justin had the distinction of being the only child of Albert and Nancy to be born in a hospital. The other nine were born at home. In 1960 he graduated from the Linton Stockton High School with honors. Special recognition was given to him as the only student who never missed a day of school in 12 years.

After graduation Mr. Thomas worked on construction and was soon hired at Crane in Martin County. A few years later he was hired at the General Electric Plant in Linton where he worked until retirement. He was a life-long and loyal member of the Linton Church of Christ. His love of history and patriotism led him to the Sons of the American Revolution where he became a member of the George Rogers Clark Chapter of the SAR in Vincennes. He enjoyed family ancestry and visiting historical sites. Justin was known in his neighborhood for going the extra mile to show kindness to his neighbors.

Mr. Thomas is survived by brothers Thornton Thomas (wife Olga) and Houston Thomas (wife Betty) of Linton. His surviving sisters include Thelma Hoyt of West Lafayette, Sue Jones of Clarksville, Tennessee and Mary Kelley of Tallahassee, Florida. He is survived by 23 nieces and nephews and many great-nieces and nephews who love him dearly. Along with his mother and father, Justin was preceded in death by siblings Ward Edward Thomas, Alberta Troyan, Pauline Hodges and Paul Thomas. A special nephew, Les Laughlin preceded him in death also.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Linton Church of Christ in memory of Justin.
