Kenneth Hugh Upp, 65, of Terre Haute, IN, passed away Mon., Aug. 3, 2009, at his residence. He was born Oct. 21, 1943, to Lawrence V. and Eva K. (Singleton) Upp. On September 2, 1978, he married Cherylle M. Brown.
Kenneth was a US Navy veteran who served his country in Vietnam. He later worked for Britt Airway in Terre Haute and American Trans Air in Indianapolis as a composite mechanic for 16 years. He retired in 2005. Kenneth faithfully attended the First Church of the Nazarene in Terre Haute. He had several hobbies, including carpentry, gardening, and travel. He also loved fishing and was an avid reader; he especially was devoted to his Lord.
Survivors include his wife, Cherylle M. Upp, a brother, Donald E. (Janet) Upp of Centerpoint, a brother-in-law Marco (Katherine) Brown of Linton, and sister-in-law Tana (Jim) Fox of Terre Haute. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews; Tammy, Terry, Bobby, Lisa, Tanya, LeAnn, Donny, Jason, Shawn, Jeremy, Nathan and Jesse, and several great-nieces and nephews and father-in-law Melvin Brown.
Kenny was preceded in death by his parents, a brother Jerry C. Upp and mother-in-law Mercedes Brown.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Thursday, Aug. 6, 2009, at the First Church of the Nazarene (801 Ft. Harrison Rd., Terre Haute, IN) with Dr. Mark Fleschner officiating. Burial will follow at 3:00 PM, at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton with Full Military Rites given by the American Legion Post #22.
Friends may call from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wed., Aug. 5, 2009, at the First Church of the Nazarene located at 801 Ft. Harrison Road in Terre Haute, IN. There will also be calling from 10:00 AM, Thurs., Aug 6, 2009, until the hour of service. Memorial contributions may be made to Hopice of Wabash Valley, with envelopes available at the church or through the funeral home.
