Leona B. (Gainey) Hancock, 88, of Sandborn, IN passed away, Wednesday, July 18, 2012, at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes, IN. She was born on February 23, 1924 in Scotland, IN to Samuel Clement and Oma Frances (Britton) Gainey. On April 15, 1947, Leona married Harry S. Hancock and they had two children.

Leona spent her adult married life as a Farmer's wife. She had a great love of studying the Bible and oil painting.

Leona is survived by her son: Larry S. (Linda) Hancock; daughter: Sonja L. Crawford, both of Sandborn; grandchildren: Ginger (Tim) Kirk and Luke (Jennifer) Hancock; two great-grandchildren; sisters: Winoma Gainey of Bloomfield and Eurtis Hasler of Newberry.

Leona was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Harry Hancock (April 2, 1998); one granddaughter: Corrie; son-in-law: Frank Crawford; six brothers and three sisters.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Gideon's International, with envelopes available at the church.

Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 21, 2012, at 1:00 pm at the Sandborn United Methodist Church in Sandborn, IN with Rev. Tom Anderson officiating. Interment will follow at the Sandborn Cemetery in Sandborn, IN.

Visitation hours will be from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm on Saturday, July 21, 2012 at the church.

The Hancock family has entrusted Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton, IN with all funeral arrangements.
