Marian S. Chapman, 93, formerly of Linton, passed away Friday, February 28, 2009, in Florida. She was born on March 26, 1915 in Bartholomew County, IN to Frank and Janie (Dinkins) Spurling. On March 2, 1937, she married Eugene Chapman who preceded her in death on July 18, 1992.

Marian was a homemaker. She loved to garden and grow flowers. She was a member of the Linton First Christian Church and Prime Timers of the church and was better known as Grandma Chapman to many.

Survivors include her son, Ronald (Beverly) Chapman of Sebring, FL; daughter, Karen (Robert) Barkhimer of Borrego Springs, CA; grandchildren, Jeffrey (Donna) Barkhimer, Brian (Deborah) Barkhimer and Beth Anne (Michael) Schaldach all of California, Michael (Becky) Chapman of Switz City, Susan (Craig) Herod of Florida and Becky (Greg) Weisman of Huntingburg, IN. Marion was also survived by several nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, four brothers, one sister and one great-grandson.

Friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, March 4, 2009. Graveside services will be held 11:00 AM on Thursday, March 5, 2009 at the Garland Brook Cemetery in Columbus, IN with Michael Chapman officiating. Interment will immediately follow.
