Kathryn Hughes, 89, of Sandborn, passed away Thursday, March 10, 2011, at her residence in Sandborn, IN. She was born on February 9, 1922, in Marco, IN, to John and Laura (Turpin) Frederick. Kathryn married James Dale Hughes on August 30, 1941, they had been married 58 years and 11 months.

Kathryn was a homemaker and mother. She was a member of the Marco United Methodist Church.

Survivors include two sons: Jim (Brenda) Hughes of Sandborn, Greg (Judy) Hughes of Lyons; one daughter: Joan (Morgan) James of Linton; eight grandchildren, Natalie, Brad, JD, Jeff, Cara, Adam, Jennifer and Laura; and nine great-grandchildren. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Kathryn was preceded in death by her parents, and her husband, James Dale Hughes (August 18, 2000), one son, Don Hughes, four sisters, Myrtle Workman, Madge Murphy, Maxine McKim, Jo Burkhammer and three brothers, Frank, John and Charles Frederick.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Stafford Cemetery and/or Marco United Methodist Church with envelopes available at the funeral home.

The funeral service will be held at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel at 1:00 PM on Monday, March 14, 2011, with Rev. Rose Sparks officiating. Friends may call at the funeral home on Sunday, March 13, 2011 from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM and then on Monday from 11:00 AM until time of service. Interment will follow at Stafford Cemetery in Sandborn, IN.
