Obituary

Mary June Meyer, formerly of Sandborn, Indiana, passed away Thursday, June 4, 2009, at Oakwood Health Campus, Tell City, Indiana. Born in Shoals, Indiana on June 28, 1925, she was the daughter of Claude and Edna (Collins) Chappell. She married Desco D. Meyer on April 15, 1951 and he survives.

Mary was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ. She worked at the Tip Top Creamery in Vincennes, Receptionist for Dr. Jackson, Insurance, Monsanto, Sandborn & Westphalia Feed Mill and the Trailer Manufacturing in Vincennes. Mary retired in 1960 and she enjoyed being with her family, gardening and cooking.

Survivors include one son, David A. (Connie) Meyer of Sandborn; one daughter, Alisa A. (Mike) Poehlein of Tell City, Indiana; four grandchildren, Rachelle (Greg) (Poehlein) Blackford, Shawna (David) (Poehlein) Etheridge, Melinda (Troy) (Meyer) Wolfe, Lee Meyer; four great grandchildren, Cydney, Hayden, Blake, Madison and one sister, Laverne Schroeder of Westphalia, Indiana.

Mary was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Claude Chappell, Jr.

The family has requested memorial contributions be made to the Salem United Church of Christ Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Friends may call at the Salem United Church of Christ from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Monday, June 8, 2009 and from 9:00 am until the hour of service on Tuesday. The funeral service will begin at 10:30 am on Tuesday, June 9, 2009, at the Salem United Church of Christ, with Rev. Ken Kramer officiating. Interment will follow at the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Westphalia, Indiana.
