Mearl E. Stremming, 61, of Sandborn, IN, passed away Saturday, August 16, 2008, at his residence. He was a life-long resident of Sandborn, born on December 26, 1946. Mearl was the son of Orvel L. and Virginia M. (Clifford) Stremming. On August 30, 1968, he married Linda D. Marlow.
Mearl was an insurance agent for United Insurance Company of America and served as an Assistant Manager for the company in the Vincennes office. He, also, worked as an independent, owning his own agency. Mearl retired in 1996. He was a member of the Sandborn United Methodist Church, Switz City Masonic Lodge #676 F & AM, and Lyons Eastern Star Chapter #371.
Survivors include his parents, Orvel & Virginia Stremming of Sandborn, his spouse, Linda D. Stremming, a son, Lee M. Stremming of Linton, a daughter, Virginia J. "Ginny" (Bill, Jr.) Gayso of Alamogordo, NM, four grandchildren: Michael Lee & Brayden Lee Stremming, Eric Matthew and Blaine Christian Gayso, and two sisters: Charlene Stremming of Sandborn and Marlene (Robert) Mattingly of Washington, IN.
The family has requested memorial contributions be made to a Jr./Sr. High School Fund called Project Hope. Envelopes will be available at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel or contributions can be sent directly to: Project Hope, Linton-Stockton Jr./Sr. High School, 10 H. Street NE, Linton, IN 47441.
There will be no public viewing.
A Masonic Graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 20th, 2008, at 11:00 AM, at the Stafford Cemetery with Alfred Helms officiating.
The family has entrusted Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel with these arrangements.
