Morgan L. James, 71, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully with his family by his side, on Monday, July 11, 2016 at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. He was born in Springfield, Missouri on December 26, 1944 to John L. and Cleota Mae (Cooprider) James. Morgan married his sweetheart, Joann Hughes on October 6, 1968.
Morgan was Veteran of the US Army having served in Vietnam; was a distinguished member of BPO Elks Lodge #866 having served as two (2) time PER, PDDGER, a current state officer and was a member of American Legion Post #22. He was very active in the local and state Elks activities, enjoyed playing golf, mowing grass and attending his grandchildren's sporting events. Morgan was an Engineering Tech with NWSC Crane, retiring in May 2000 with 37 years of service.
Family members surviving Morgan are: his wife, Joann James; two sons, J.D. (Kim) James of Paris, IL and Adam (Hannah) James of Linton; five grandchildren, Tyler, Alexis, Olivia, Harrison and Hadley; two brothers, Joe James and John (De) James, both of Linton; one sister, Mary (Jim) Baker of Linton. Also surviving are several cousins, nieces and nephews.
Morgan was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Steve 'Gang' James.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Good Samaritan Hospice, 520 S. 7th St., Vincennes, IN 47591.
The James family is following Morgan's wishes with cremation and no services.
