Obituary

Patty Ruth Spurgeon, 92, of Jasonville, Indiana, passed away peacefully, at Shakamak Good Samaritan Nursing Home in Jasonville on Thursday, March 28, 2024. She was born on July 4, 1931 in Bakersburg, Oklahoma to Clyde Oran and Elsie Dale (McCallister) Carpenter. Patty married Darrell Porter and then later married Edward Spurgeon.


Patty worked as a Nurses' Aide for many years. She most enjoyed being a homemaker and took pride in caring for her home and the family she loved so much.


Family left to cherish the memory of Patty include: one son, Cliffton Ray Porter of Pleasantville; two daughters, Reanea Waddell of Bloomfield and Darlene Page of Springhill, FL; seven grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; fifteen great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Genorah Stevens of Linton.


Patty was preceded in death by: her husbands; grandson, Benjamin Waddell; son-in-law, Dallas Waddell; sisters, Doris Wood and Nona Carmichael.


Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Monday, April 1, 2024 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Carl Williams officiating. Patty will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.


Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Monday at the funeral home.
