Obituary

Paul W. Carpenter, 88, of Linton passed away Monday December 18 at Sullivan Co. Community Hospital. Born May 29th, 1918, in Gray, Oklahoma, he was the son of Perry and Nettie (Eaton) Carpenter. He married Lurene Fulk Nov. 14, 1946.
Paul was a WW II Veteran of the US Army, where he earned the American Defense and Theater Ribbons, and Good Conduct and Victory medals. He worked at NWSC Crane in the Electronic Mechanics and Gun Mount division until retirement in 1979. He was a member of the Fellowship Baptist Church.
Survivors include his wife Lurene, two sons: Mark D. (Sandy) Carpenter of Linton and David C. (Kambi) Carpenter of Sullivan; and six grandchildren: Joshua Paul Hudson, Bryce, Elizabeth "Izzy", and Chase Carpenter, and Ian and Ashton Alsman. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, two sisters: Madge Young and Helen Rowe; four brothers: Gail, Leon, Frank, and Irvin Carpenter and a stillborn infant granddaughter, Brandi Sue Carpenter.
Friends may call from 4:00 to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, December 20th at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service on Thursday, December 21st at the Fellowship Baptist Church. The service will be Thursday, December 21st at 2:00 PM at the Fellowship Baptist Church with officiants Rev. Warren Allen and Dr. Dean Hartman. Burial and Military Graveside Rites will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton.
