Paul R, Stearns, 78, of Linton, Indiana, passed away Friday, September 23, 2011, at Regional Hospital in Terre Haute, IN. He was born on May 22, 1933, in Jennings County, Indiana, to James O. and Jeanetta (Smith) Stearns. Paul married Marie (Honeycutt) on January 31, 1953.

Paul was employed with U. S. Steel Local 1066 in Gary, IN and worked in the steel industry until his retirement in 1988.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years Marie Stearns, his children, son, James L. (Jenine) Stearns of Linton; son, Lee Stearns of Portage, IN; daughter, Juanita (Daniel) Kempski of Hobart; son, Wayne (Judy) Stearns of Lake Station; son, Steven Stearns of Linton; Larry (Tina) Stearns of Portage; William Stearns of Hobart; Bambi Street of Linton; 20 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Paul was preceded in death by his parents; his twin sister, one brother, four other sisters, two daughters-in-laws, one son-in-law and one grandson.

The funeral service will be Tuesday, September 27, 2011, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton at 11:00 AM with Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Burial will follow at the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Monday and from 9:00 AM until time of service on Tuesday.
