Phyllis J. 'Joan' Johnson, 74, of Sandborn, Indiana, went peacefully to Heaven, on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 at Linton, Indiana. She was born on July 17, 1941 in Coalmont, Indiana to Joe and Reba (Custer) Griffith. Phyllis married the love of her life, Edwin L. Johnson on August 27, 1960.

Joan was a member of the Linton Assembly of God Church where she enjoyed all the church activities. She was a Pastor at North Vernon Assembly of God Church from 1993 until 2003 and had worked as a ward clerk at Seymour Hospital for 5 years.

Survivors include: her husband, Ed Johnson; two sons, Edwin Johnson and James Johnson, both of Linton; one daughter, Sherrill (Gordon) Hanson of Nashville, IN; four grandchildren, Amanda, Lee, Elisha and Reba; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Orda White of Linton and Laura Jean (Ron) Frye of Switz City.

Joan was preceded in death by: her parents; one brother, George Griffith and daughter-in-law, Tonia Johnson.

Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 AM on Monday, June 6, 2016 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. David Atkins officiating. Joan will be laid to rest in the Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Sunday, June 5 and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 11:00 AM on Monday at the funeral home.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Linton Community Food Pantry. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
