Rex E. Bowman, 82, of Sandborn, IN, passed away Sunday, November 30, 2008 at Lyons Health & Living Center. He was born on May 29, 1926, in Sandborn, to Thomas B. and Daisy (Mitchell) Bowman. On June 26, 1949 he married Eva Colleen Brower and they had two children.

Rex served in the U. S. Navy during WWII. He was a semi truck driver owning and operating his own trucks, followed by driving for Dean Brothers and AM Risher Trucking. He was a 50 year member of the Elnora American Legion Post #245 and the Teamsters Union.

Survivors include his wife, Colleen Bowman of Sandborn; one daughter, Peggy (John) Grider of St. Peters, MO and one son, Jerry (Kathy) Bowman of Sandborn. Also surviving are six grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

Rex was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters, Maxine Teague and Marjorie Osborne.

Friends may call at the Sandborn Christian Church from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 2, 2008 and from 10:00 AM until the hour of service on Wednesday, December 3, 2008. The funeral service will begin at 11:30 AM with Bryan Sanders officiating. Interment will follow at Sandborn Cemetery with full Military Rites being given by Elnora American Legion Post #245.

The family has requested memorial contributions to be made to North Knox Ministries or the Sandborn Christian Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
