Obituary

Richard DeWayne Mathena, 68, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Sunday, May 24, 2015. He was born in Linton on March 7, 1947 to Melvin Lee and Ruth (Burcham) Mathena.



Richard was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church in Linton. He was a graduate of Southeastern Christian College of Winchester, Kentucky and received a BA from Oakland City University. Richard was employed as a High School English/History Teacher at Northeast Dubois High School and Principal at Washington Catholic, St. Mary's in Mt. Carmel, Illinois and then retired from Logansport High School.



Survivors include one brother, Michael Lee (Ada) Mathena of Athens, AL and several nieces and nephews.



Richard was preceded in death by: his parents; two sisters, LeMoyne Fulford and Sharon Vannoy.



The Mass of Christian Burial will take place at 10:30 AM on Saturday, May 30, 2015 at St. Peter Catholic Church in Linton with Rev. Joseph F. Erbacher officiating. Richard will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.



Family and friends may call at the church on Saturday, May 30 from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 10:30 AM.



Memorial contributions may be made to St. Peter Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the church.
