Robert E. 'Bob' McKee, 82, of Sandborn, IN, passed away Saturday, November 15, 2008, at Greene County General Hospital in Linton. He was born on December 11, 1925, in Sandborn, IN, to Elbert Ervin and Bonnie R. (Bicknell) McKee. On March 1, 1946, Bob married Ruby Marksbary and they had 5 children.

Bob served in the US Marine Corps during WWII and the Korean War and was a Purple Heart recipient. He was a brick layer by trade, retiring in 1976. Bob was a member of the Sandborn United Methodist Church, Edwardsport Masonic Lodge #429 F & AM, the Marine Corps League, the Chosin Few, the Lyons American Legion Post #479, and the VFW.

Survivors include one son, Mike (Lucy) McKee of Brownsburg, IN; three daughters: Mary (Budd) Eversman of Grove City, OH, Jeannie Powers of Pittsboro, IN, and Julie (Tim) Bovenschen of Lyons, IN; a daughter-in-law, Evelyn McKee of Brownsburg, IN; 4 grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, and a brother, Eugene McKee of Indianapolis, IN.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents, his wife Ruby McKee (July 12, 2001), one son Robert D. McKee (Nov. 19, 1990), and a brother Harold McKee.

The family has requested memorial contributions to be made to the Sandborn United Methodist Church or The Chosin Few, National Headquarters, 238 Cornwall Circle, Chalfont, PA 18914-2318. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Wednesday, November 19, 2008. At 1:00 PM, Masonic Rites will be given and the funeral will follow with Rev. Tom Anderson officiating. Interment will take place at the Sandborn Cemetery in Sandborn, IN, with Military Graveside Rites given by Frank Courtney American Legion Post #22.
