Robert E. Shake, 92, of Linton, Indiana, went to Heaven, surrounded by his family, on Monday, September 5, 2016 in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on January 20, 1924 in Carlisle, Indiana to Clyde and Florine (Minnick) Shake. He married Doris K. Grady on June 3, 1968.

Robert was a US Army World War II Veteran. He was a member of the Indiana Prairie Baptist Church, Brotherhood of Locomotive Engineers, American Legion Post #22, VFW Post #7118 and Loyal Order of the Moose. Robert, better known as 'Ole Smoothie', was a Locomotive Engineer for CSI with 31 years of service, retiring in 1985.

Surviving Robert is: his wife, Doris Shake of Linton; three daughters, Sandra (John) Johnston of Terre Haute, Julie (Rodney) Jackson of Westphalia and Christina (Rudy) Carrillo of Valparaiso, IN; one son, Eric Shake of Linton and eight grandchildren.

Robert was preceded in death by: his parents; one sister, four brothers and one grandson.

There will be no public services or visitation.
