Rose Lorene Phipps, 82, of Linton, Indiana passed away Monday, December 20, 2010 at Sullivan County Community Hospital. She was born on November 28, 1928 in Briceville, Tennessee, to William W. and Minnie (Lloyd) Simmons.

Lorene was employed at RCA in Bloomington, Indiana for 24 years, retiring in 1990.

Survivors include her son, Dewayne A. (Cathy) Phipps of Linton; two grandchildren, Allen Phipps of Terre Haute and Jessica (Charlie) Kaho of Kansas, and six great-grandchildren. Also surviving is one sister; Kathleen Wright of Linton.

Lorene was preceded in death by her parents, one daughter, Connie Simmons, four brothers, Jim, Lawrence, Junior and Albert Simmons and one sister; Billy House.

Visitation hours will be held from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Tuesday, December 21, 2010 at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton, Indiana. Visitation will continue on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 from 9:00 AM until the hour of service.

Funeral services will begin on Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at 11:00 AM at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel with Pastor David Atkins officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton, Indiana.
