Ruth E. Roark, 87, of Bicknell, IN, passed away on Saturday, March 14, 2015, at the Freelandville Community Home. She was born on November 10, 1927, in Freelandville, IN, to Simon Due and Hilda (Kixmiller) Due. Ruth was married on June 29, 1952 to Robert E. Roark.
Ruth graduated from Good Samaritan Nursing School and later worked as the head surgery nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Vincennes. She was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ. Ruth was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother, homemaker and cook who loved her family dearly. Ruth had a passion for watching athletic events and various handicrafts.
Survivors include: her son, Mark (Barbara Baird) Roark of Ladoga, IN; a daughter, Susan J. Roark of Bicknell; two grandchildren: Michael (Aimee) Roark of Ladoga and Matthew Roark of Ladoga, IN; three great grandchildren: Kaytlin, Riley and Hannah Roark; one sister: Mary (Gene) Campbell of Westphalia; one brother: Gerald (Thelma) A. Due of Washington State.
Ruth was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband Robert Roark and twin sons at birth.
Funeral Services are scheduled for 10:30 AM on Wednesday March 18, 2015, at the Salem United Church of Christ with Rev. Bryan Taylor officiating. Ruth will be laid to rest in the Salem UCC Cemetery, in Westphalia, IN.
Friends and family may call at the church on Tuesday, March 17, 2015, from 5:00 to 8:00 PM and from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Wednesday.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that memorial contributions be made in memory of Ruth to the Salem Memorial Fund. Envelopes will be available at the church.
The Roark Family has entrusted all arrangements to James W. Meng, Jr. and the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton. Online condolences may be sent to www.andersonpoindexter.com.
