Sadie R. Hartsburg, 83, of Freelandville, formerly of Westphalia, Indiana, passed away on Monday, January 24, 2011, at the Freelandville Community Home. Born in McNabb, AR, on July 24, 1927, she was the daughter of Price and Vola Grace (King) Reed. She married William J. Hartsburg on August 31, 1944 and they had three children.

Sadie was a homemaker. She was also a member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Westphalia and the VFW Bicknell Post Ladies Aux.

Surviving family includes a son, Michael Hartsburg of Sandborn; two daughters, Diane (Bill) Kirchoff of Plainfield, Mary Jane (Ted) Risley of Westphalia; eight grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren and one sister, Hazel Copeland of Texarkanna, AR.

Sadie was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, William J. Hartsburg (April 18, 1999), two brothers, one sister and one grandson, Bill Wheeler.

The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to the Good Samaritan Hospice of Vincennes. Envelopes will be available at the church.

Friends may call at the Salem United Church of Christ from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM on Friday, January 28, 2011. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 PM Friday, January 28, 2011, at the church with Rev. Bill Pieper officiating. Interment will follow at Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery in Westphalia, Indiana.

The family has entrusted the funeral arrangements with Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton, Indiana.
