Virginia A. Lee, 93, of Linton, Indiana, passed from this life and entered eternity on Wednesday, November 22, 2023, Glenburn Senior Living. She was born in Linton, Indiana, on August 23, 1930, to Claude and Anna May (Jeffers) Hawkins. On April 26, 1952, Virginia married Benjamin D. 'Benny' Lee.
Virginia was a member of the Linton First Christian Church, LFCC Prime Timers, a 75-year member of the Order of Eastern Star Columbian Chapter #140, and was a leader and member of the Greene County 4-H. She was an active member of the Republican Party and had attended several caucuses and two Presidential Inaugurations. She worked for the State School Lunch Dept. of Education from which she retired.
Surviving family members who cherish Virginia's memories include her son, Douglas A. (Karen) Lee of Linton; grandsons: Jason (LeaAnne) Lee of Tennessee and Jarod Lee of Linton; great-grandchildren, Kalyn Lee, and Emma Lee; great-great-grandchildren, Jaxson and Sammy Douglas Fulk; Virginia had several nieces and nephews that she dearly loved, also special friends and loving caregivers, Jeni Dawn Hancock and Amy McNabb.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Benny Lee, her sister, Mary Himebrook; two brothers, Claude, Jr., and John Hawkins.
The funeral service will be at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 30th, 2023, at the Meng Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton, with Warren Shake and Nick Moore officiating. Interment will follow at Sandborn Cemetery of Sandborn, Indiana.
The visitation will be from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM Wednesday, November 29th and 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Thursday, November 30th, at the funeral home. An Order of Eastern Star Memorial service will be held at 7:00 PM Wednesday.
Memorial contributions may be made to Linton First Christian Church Prime Timers, with envelopes available at the funeral home.
