Wayne Harry Harris Sharp, 66, of Linton, Indiana, formerly of Louisville, Kentucky, passed away on Saturday, February 4, 2012, at the Greene County General Hospital. He was born on February 6, 1945, in Louisville, to Harry James and Loriane Elizabeth (Miller) Sharp. Wayne married Maria Jane LeVold on June 15, 1966.
Wayne was a professional musician and recording artist, touring in both the United States and Europe. He worked with many top entertainers throughout his fifty year career. Wayne retired to Greene County where he work with and influenced many local musicians. Wayne also had a gift for furniture building and restoration
Survivors include his wife, Janie; three daughters, Marnie (Bruce) Hart of Linton, IN, Heidi (Bobby) Howell of Frankfort, KY, Brandy (Tommy) Garris of Crestwood, KY; grandchildren, Erik, Maggie, Mandi, Bryan, Olivia, Dallas and Trey; great-grand children, Josh, Molleigh, Clover and Andrew. Wayne was also survived by one sister, Carolyn Carter of Louisville, KY.
Wayne was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Milton and Jimmy Sharp; two sisters, Martha Kirby and Norma Woodfin.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in memory of Wayne.
A memorial to celebrate Wayne's life will be held on Saturday February 11, 2012, at the American Legion Park in Linton. Friends are invited to visit throughout the day from 2:00 p.m. until 10:00 p.m.
