William 'Bill' D. Bowers, 69, of Linton, passed away on Monday, April 30, 2012, at Union Hospital in Terre Haute, Indiana. He was born on March 18, 1943, in Epsom, Daviess Co., Indiana, to Loren A. and Mary Elizabeth (Brookshire) Bowers. He married Martha Jane (Hugunin) on December 29, 1963. They had three sons.
Bill was a farmer/mechanic and trucker, he retired in 2006. His hobbies included hunting, fishing and spot shoots. Bill was a member of the Prairie Chapel United Methodist Church, Past President of Linton Jaycees, and Greene Co. 4-H Council.
Survivors include his wife, Martha Jane Bowers; three sons, James Wm. (Lorie) Bowers; Anthony L. (Amy) Bowers, both of Linton; Nathan R. (Debbie) Bowers of Terre Haute; his favorite niece, Amy T. (Francis) Hopkins of Loogootee; nine grandchildren, Levi, AJ, Justin, D'Lee, Brandon, Jordyn, Ryan, Mason and Makenna; three great-grandchildren, Canaan, Sidney and Boone; one brother, Ronald L. (Genie) Bowers of Linton; two sisters, Marlene K. (Jerry) Lux of Linton and Jan G. (Mark) Townsend of Mackay, Australia.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Dwight K. Bowers (1977) and one brother, Larry 'Butch' Bowers (7/26/1983).
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Hux Cancer Ctr. Relay for Life Team. Envelopes will be available at the Funeral Home.
Friends may call at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM on Wednesday, May 2, 2012. Visitation will continue from 9:00 AM until the hour of service on Thursday. Funeral services will begin at 10:30 AM on Thursday, May 3, 2012 with Rev. Nikki Marker officiating. Interment will follow at Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Lyons, IN.
