Obituary

Willis Dale Runnels, 85, of Linton, Indiana, passed away Monday, July 4, 2011 at Greene County General Hospital. He was born on April 9, 1926, in Mt. Vernon, Illinois to Enos D. and Almeda T. (White) Runnels. On September 3, 1954, he married Evelyn L. Goffinet.

Willis served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He worked at Schlumberger Well Services as a service operator for 31 years, retiring in 1986. Willis was a member of St. Peter Catholic Church.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn L. Runnels of Linton; his two daughters, Kimberly Runnels of Carmel and Stephanie (Scott) Francey of Greensboro, NC; his five grandchildren, Taylor, Austin, Hampton and Dawson Francey and Alexa D. Runnels. Also surviving is his brother, Jack G. Runnels of Zephyrhills, FL.

Willis was preceded in death by his parents.

The family has requested memorial contributions to be made to St. Peter Catholic Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home or contributions may be mailed to the funeral home.

Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 10:00 AM on Thursday, July 7, 2011 at St. Peter Catholic Church with Rev. Michael Madden officiating. Interment will follow at Fairview Cemetery in Linton with full military graveside rites provided by American Legion Post #22 and VFW Post #7118.

Friends may call at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton from 4:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, July 6, 2011, with the Rosary Ritual to be held at 7:30 pm.
