Wilma J. Heaton, 92, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 20, 2016 at Glenburn Nursing Home in Linton. She was born on November 8, 1923 in Linton to Welty and Emmalue Ruth (Elkins) Stalcup. She became the wife of Alvin M. 'Squeak' Heaton on November 30, 1940.
Wilma was a member of the Saron United Church of Christ, American Legion Post #22 Ladies Auxiliary, Women of the Moose Chapter 19 and BPO Elks Lodge #866, all of Linton.
She is survived by: one daughter, Brenda L. Hicks of Morganton, NC; four grandchildren, Michelle & Randy Jessee, April & Tom Graper, Chris Watson, Holly & Scott Patterson and seven great-grandchildren.
Wilma was preceded in death by: her parents; her husband, Alvin 'Squeak' Heaton; two sons, William E. 'Bill' Heaton and Jerry W. Heaton.
Funeral services are scheduled for 1:00 PM on Saturday, January 23, 2016 at Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel with Pastor Bill Pieper officiating. Wilma will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery at Linton.
Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Saturday at the funeral home.
The family has requested that memorial contributions be made to Saron United Church of Christ in memory of Wilma. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
