Arlene (Schmitt) Poe

Mary Arlene Poe, 81, of Bloomington, Indiana, formerly of Linton, passed away on Monday, January 9, 2023, after spending the day with her loving family. She was born on March 20, 1941 in Linton to William Andrew and Mary Mildred (Blough) Schmitt. Arlene married the love of her life, Larry A. Poe, on April 28, 1961.

Arlene was a member of the First United Methodist Church and Beta Sigma Phi for over 40 years. She was an active member of the community and was well known for her sense of humor. Arlene had many hobbies including scrapbooking, photography, puzzles, traveling, coloring, shopping, and jewelry, just to name a few. The thing she loved most was spending time with her grandchildren.

Family left to cherish the memories of Arlene include: her husband, Larry Poe of Bloomington; three daughters, Lisa Poe Evans of Linton, Stacy (Tom) Wells of Linton and Jennifer Poe of Bloomington; five grandchildren, Kinley Wells, DeLaney Sanders, Chad Evans, Katie (Trent) Wilkes and Hayden Scifres; great-granddaughter, Finn Wells and one sister, Joyce (David) Rogerson of Jasonville. Also survived by several nieces and nephews.

Arlene was preceded in death by: her parents; great-grandson, Ryder Wilson; her sister, Loretta McDaniels; brother-in-law, James McDaniels; niece, Linda Williams and nephew, Steve McDaniels.

Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM on Saturday, January 14, 2023 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Nyle Riegle officiating. Arlene will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Friday, January 13 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Saturday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
