Delores Kaye (Mitchell) Padgett, 83, of Worthington, Indiana, passed from this life, April 12, 2025, surrounded by family.  She was born on March 7, 1942, to Ray and Beatrice (Risher) Mitchell.  Delores married John Padgett on January 1, 1977, and they shared 35 wonderful years and memories together.

Delores attended Friendly Grove Baptist Church of Lewis, she worked at Shields Ace Hardware for 14 years and then enjoyed many years managing Camelot Court Apartments and the tenants she had the joy of knowing.  She loved bowling and made dear friendships with Liz and Roger Tharp, Lori and Kenny Tharp, Laura and Rick Pressel, Nancy Sexton and Lonnie Campbell, Tammy and Troy Lynch, and Jamie Woodward. Her special neighbors Tyann Hammock and Richard Fulk, plus too many more to name, made her life very blessed. Her children, grandchildren, and friends were her greatest blessing.  

Delores is survived by her loving family: Daughter: Linda (Jay) Eslinger of Dugger; Daughter-in-law: Channon Lockhart of Linton; Stepdaughters: Jonna (Bob) Langston of Henderson, KY and Penny Padgett of New Harmony, IN and Step-Son-in-law: Mike Henry of Odon; and her late-in-life love, best friend, and partner, Tom Wall of Worthington.  She was deeply loved by her grandchildren, including: Kevin Eslinger of White House, TN, Justin (Arica) Eslinger of Peachtree City, GA, and Seth Lockhart, Alec Lockhart, Dylan Lockhart and Amelya Lockhart of Linton; Step-grandchildren: Makaley (Kyle) Smith of Linton, Matt (Nikki) Henry of Indianapolis, Chris (Candace Ringer) of Chrisney, IN, and James Henry of Odon, Heather Resler (Wayne Royster), Michael (Amanda) Langston of Henderson, KY, and Jaylee (Nicholas) Courtney , KY.  Several great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren and honorary daughters, Debra (Jeff) Stahl and family, and Dawn (Mark) Like and family of Indiana.

Delores was preceded in death by her parents; husband, John (11-15-2012), and sons, Roy (02-21-1964) and Ray (12-28-2016) Lockhart, four brothers and two stepdaughters.

Funeral services to honor Delores’s life will be at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Pastor David Smith officiating. Delores will be laid to rest later in Linton Fairview Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Thursday, April 17, 2025, at the funeral home.
