Dorothy Mae (Brown) Byrne passed away peacefully on October 6, 2024, at the age of 95 at Glenburn Home in Linton, Indiana. She was born September 14, 1929, in Indianapolis, Indiana to William & Alma Brown, and was their only child.
Dorothy graduated from Thomas Howe High School in Indianapolis in 1947, where she excelled in art and illustration. She met John Terry Byrne at a rooftop dance in Indianapolis, and they were married in 1957.
She was preceded in death by her parents William & Alma, and husband John, who passed away in 1989.
She is survived by her daughter, Denise Byrne, granddaughters Jennifer Stewart, Emilee Borgmeier, and Colleen Hendrickson; two great granddaughters, Emma and Jailynn; three great grandsons, Jaxson, Max and Benjy; one great-great granddaughter, Eleia.
Dorothy will be remembered by her family for her independence and travels in her younger years, her hard work and care as a homemaker, and for her quiet familial support and stoicism in her later years.
Her family would like to deeply thank all of those who helped care for her when she could not care for herself. She would want anyone reading this right now to put it down, and go watch an Alex Trebek era episode of Jeopardy, listen to some Conway Twitty, or get someone to play a gut-busting round of slapjack instead.
Funeral services to honor the life of Dorothy will be at 1:00 PM on Friday, October 11, 2024 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Rev. Dick Smith officiating. Dorothy will be laid to rest in Center Ridge Cemetery in Sullivan.
