Helen L. (Hess) Sparks

Helen L. Sparks, 92, of Greenfield formerly of Linton, Indiana passed away on Wednesday, July 1, 2020 at Bloom of German Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.  She was born December 20, 1927 in Indianapolis, Indiana to Fay and Dortha (Dunlap) Hess.  Helen married John Sparks on May 3, 1944.

Helen was a member of Dugger First Baptist Church. She was a homemaker, loving mother and grandma. She enjoyed knitting, reading and playing euchre.

Family left to cherish the memories of Helen include: her son, Allen (Patricia ) Sparks of Indianapolis, her daughter, Catherine (Perry) Cobb of Greenfield; four grandchildren, Barrette and Troy Goodman, Brandon and Cindy Cobb, Sara and Ryan Detig, Cari Chastain; ten great-grandchildren and one sister, Linda (Joe) Mentillo of Dugger.

Helen was preceded in death by: her parents, her husband John, one great-granddaughter, Caden Chastian; grandson-in law, Andrew Chastian, one sister and one brother.

There will be a graveside service honoring the life of Helen on Monday, July 6, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Greenwood, Indiana with Pastor Joe Contreo officiating. There will be a time for family and friends to gather from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Meng Family Funeral Home, Anderson-Poindexter Chapel on Monday, July 6, 2020.

Memorial contributions may be made in the memory of Helen to The American Heart Association.  Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
