Joseph Leon Bowers, 83, of Bloomfield, Indiana, passed from this life to Heaven, on Thursday, January 4, 2024 at Terre Haute Regional Hospital. He was born on January 11, 1940 in Sandborn, Indiana to Everett and Dorothy Helen (Allen) Bowers. Joe married Beatrice Viola (Crabb) Bowers in 1969.

Joe was a member of the Switz City Full Gospel Church. He worked at ABB and then Westinghouse in Bloomington before retiring. Joe enjoyed carpentry, collecting old cars, trucks, tractors and Christmas decorations.

Family left to cherish the memory of Joe include: two daughters, Jody (Ron) Ferree of Sullivan and Darla (Chuck) Mason of Linton; step-son, Phillip George of Linton; seven grandchildren and twenty-three great-grandchildren.

Joe was preceded in death by: his parents; his wife, Beatrice Bowers; two grandsons, Brian Mason and Craig Jerrell; brother, Fred Bowers and step-son, Jessie George.

Funeral services will be at 1:00 PM on Tuesday, January 9, 2024 at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Rev. Vernon Thompson officiating. Joe will be laid to rest in Prairie Chapel Cemetery in Newberry.

Family and friends may call from 11:00 AM until the time of service at 1:00 PM on Tuesday at the funeral home.
