Karl Edward Newell

Karl Edward Newell, 84, of Vincennes, formerly of Sandborn, Indiana, passed away peacefully, on Sunday, January 15, 2023 at Gentlecare in Vincennes, Indiana. He was born on April 12, 1938 in Vincennes to George A. and Hester I. (Brown) Newell. Karl married the love of his life, Virginia L. (Culter) Newell on July 27, 1958.

Karl was a member of the Sandborn First Christian Church, Sandborn Lions Club and United Mine Workers. He was a coal miner, retiring from Peabody Coal Co. with several years of service and spent many years farming. Karl enjoyed gardening, fishing and tinkering around the shed.

Family left to cherish the memory of Karl include: three sons, Tim (Debbie) Newell of Oaktown, Donnie Newell of Edwardsport and Eddie (Anne) Newell of Sandborn; two daughters, Regina (Paul) Kaiser and Tonya (Mike) Williams, both of Sandborn; ten grandchildren, Shaun (Jennifer) Williams, Samantha (Josh) Smith, Adam Kaiser, Amber (Nate) Yagle, Brianna Newell, Libby Newell, Abby (Brandon) Turner, Kristi (Tyler) Sanders, Kaitlyn and Michael Ashby; eleven great-grandchildren and one brother, Richard M. (Betty) Newell of Greenfield, IN.

Karl was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Virginia L. Newell.

Funeral services to honor the life of Karl will be at 11:00 AM on Friday, January 20, 2023 at Sandborn First Christian Church with Bryan Sanders officiating. Karl will be laid to rest in Sandborn Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 4:00 PM until 8:00 PM on Thursday, January 19 and from 9:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM on Friday at the church.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Sandborn First Christian Church or Sandborn Lions Club. Envelopes will be available at the church.
