Marie (Honeycutt) Stearns

Marie Stearns, 88, of Linton, Indiana, passed away peacefully, on Wednesday, January 18, 2023, at Sullivan, Indiana. She was born on December 13, 1934, in Bloomington, Indiana to Elza and Eva P. (Boruff) Honeycutt. Marie married Paul Ray Stearns on January 31, 1953, and they celebrated 58 years together before he passed in 2011.

Marie was a homemaker and loved caring for her home and family. She enjoyed baking and could often be seen sharing with the customers at Paul’s Tire and Auto, a business owned by her son. She also loved country music and working jigsaw puzzles.

Family left to cherish the memory of Marie include: five sons, James L. (Jenine) Stearns of Linton, Wayne (Judy) Stearns of Lake Station, Steve Stearns of Linton, Larry Stearns of Bedford and Billy (Cindy) Stearns of Brazil; two daughters, Juanita (Daniel) Kempski of Hobart and Bambi Street of Brazil; several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren; one sister, Mae Vogen of Illinois and half-sister, Wilma Shimer of San Pierre, IN. Also surviving are several nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Paul Ray Stearns; one son, Lee Stearns; three daughters-in-law; one son-in-law; two grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one half-sister and four infant siblings.

Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Friday, January 27, 2023, at Anderson-Poindexter Chapel in Linton with Pastor Marlin Betts officiating. Marie will be laid to rest in Fairview Cemetery in Linton.

Family and friends may call from 12 Noon until the time of service at 2:00 PM on Friday at the funeral home.
