Mary Wall-Mattox Obituary

Mary Ellen Wall-Mattox, 94, of Linton, IN, passed peacefully into eternity on Sunday, June 30, 2019, in Terre Haute, IN.  She was born in Linton on December 10, 1924, to Clarence and Pearl A. (Anderson) Canady.  She married James J. Wall in March of 1943 and married a second time, later in life, to Roy E Mattox in July of 1986.  Both husbands preceded in death.

Mary was a busy woman, working as an Executive Secretary for Continental Aviation in Michigan, as secretary for the Linton First United Methodist Church, and for several years at Comet Coal and for Mayor Wright.  She was a member of the Linton First United Methodist Church, where she made a lifelong commitment, a member of the Order of Eastern Star Chapter #140, the American Legion Post #22 Ladies Auxiliary, and the VFW Post #7118 Ladies Auxiliary.  Mary enjoyed dancing and playing cards and above all, loved God and her family.

Family members left to cherish memories of Mary include: Barbara (Eric) Simpson of Indianapolis, Ardith (Carl) Peterson of Fishers, IN, David Mattox of Denver, CO, John Mattox of Libertyville, IL, and Susan (Greg) Stein of Sarasota, FL; 6 grandchildren and 5 great-grandchildren.  Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Mary was preceded in death by:  her parents; her first husband, James J. Wall and second husband, Roy E. Mattox; and four siblings, Kenneth R. Canady, E. Ernestine Stone, H. Roger Canady, and M. Irene Collett.

Funeral Services are scheduled for 12:00 PM (Noon) on Wednesday, July 3, 2019, at the Anderson-Poindexter Memory Chapel in Linton with Rev. Ben Biggs officiating.  Mary will be laid to rest in the Linton Fairview Cemetery.

Family and friends may call from 10:00 AM until the hour of service at 12:00 PM on Wednesday at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Linton First United Methodist Church. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
